As
the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games reach the half way stage, the Organizing
Committee have provided an update on the “truly great Games” in progress. Fans
from 124 countries have gathered in Sochi to passionately support their teams.
Organizers have announced that nearly 1 000 000 tickets have been sold,
13,477 media personnel are in Sochi covering the Games and 18,500 volunteers
have worked a total of 76,090 shifts - over 760,000 hours. Volunteers are
assisting international visitors in over 30 languages.
An
incredible atmosphere can be felt in the Olympic stands, with performances from
the best winter athletes contributing to a wonderful celebration of sport that
is captivating fans across the whole world.
The
organizers have made great efforts to ensure spectators from around the world
feel right at home at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Over the first half
of the Games, Sochi’s transportation network has carried over 1.3 million
people, including 400,000 by bus and 900,000 by “Lastochka” train.
A
food and beverage service network with 1,400 individual locations is serving
over 185,000 employees, client groups, and spectators every day. Over 2,500
metric tonnes of food have been used to make their meals.
More
than 270,000 spectators have visited the Sochi 2014 Live Sites around Russia,
attending a total of 187 events that have been hosted involving stars from
sports and the stage. The Live Sites have also entertained fans with big
screens showing over 120 hours of continuous broadcasting of the sport events.
As part of the Games Cultural Program, 213 performances have been held with 92
performance groups from around the country, attracting an audience of in excess
of 200,000 people.

we always believed likely during our preparations, these are proving to be
truly great Games. During the Games, Sochi has been drawing the attention of
the whole world as Olympic history is being written. The atmosphere at the
Games is very friendly, sport fans welcome each other in all sorts of languages
and 550,000 people have already visited the Olympic Park to join the festival
of sport. I’m delighted that the athletes have spoken so highly of the
organization of the Games and thank the fans for their incredible support. As
of now, 38 medal sets have been already awarded, but there is surely more
incredible sport yet to come!"

Организаторы сделали все, чтобы зрители со всего мира чувствовали себя на
Играх в Сочи максимально комфортно. За первую половину Игр транспортная сеть
Сочи осуществила перевозку более 1,3 млн. человек, из них 400 тыс. автобусным
транспортом и 900 тыс. на поездах «Ласточка».
Сеть общественного питания из 1400 точек ежедневно кормит более 185 тыс.
человек персонала, клиентских групп, зрителей. Более 2500 тонн продовольствия
использовано для приготовления рационов и блюд.
Свыше 270 000 зрителей посетило площадки городского празднования «Сочи
2014» по всей стране, а всего на них прошло 187 мероприятий с участием звезд
спорта и эстрады. На больших экранах площадок городского празднования
осуществлено 120 часов непрерывных трансляций соревнований. В рамках культурной
программы Игр прошло 213 выступлений в исполнении 92 творческих коллективов со
всей страны, зрителями которых стали более 200 000 человек.
Президент Оргкомитета «Сочи 2014» Дмитрий
Чернышенко отметил:
«В эти дни к Сочи приковано внимание всего мира – ведь именно здесь
творится Олимпийская история. В городе царит прекрасная дружеская атмосфера,
болельщики приветствуют друг друга на всех языках мира, а Олимпийский парк с
начала Игр посетило уже около 550 000 человек. Спортсмены высоко оценивают
уровень организации соревнований и довольны активной поддержкой болельщиков. На
сегодня разыграно уже 38 комплектов медалей, но все самое интересное еще впереди!»

«Организаторы хорошо потрудились: расчистили снег, чтобы нам было удобно. Я
даже не знаю, что еще можно было сделать».

«Мы прекрасно устроились в Деревне. Все близко, до катка совсем недалеко
пешком. В общем, мы всем довольны, входим в колею».
Пернелл Карл Суббан (Канада), хоккей на льду:
«Все классно. Устроились прекрасно, комнаты отличные. Ребята говорят, что
условия даже лучше, чем в Турине. Погода стоит великолепная. Надо отдать
должное жителям Сочи и России, которые обеспечили нам здесь такой комфорт».
